Market and competition
Strong market growth

The market volume for rechargeable Li-ion round cells has grown strongly in recent years. Further annual growth of 24% p.a. is expected until 2030, which is mainly driven by the development of the automotive industry. It can be assumed that the market for Li-ion round cells will remain largely undersupplied in the future. The availability of battery cells is therefore the key to market participation today and in the medium term. Due to the existing cooperation with the efficient supplier DMEGC, “cell availability” is an essential part of E-Stream’s business model.

The global energy storage market and build-up (in GWh) will continue to accelerate strongly from 5.3 GWh in 2021 to 9.7 GWh (2021), 11.5 GWh (2022) and 13.8 (2023) according to BloombergNEF.

This is expected to increase to 44.35 GWh by 2028.
